Killer diapers for withdrawn babies, watch out for those still used for sale in flea markets and online

Some inclined cradles dangerous for newborns and for this reason collected in the USA are still for sale on marketplaces in France

Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

An inclined crib accused of being dangerous in the United States continues to be sold at some online thrift markets. The alarm comes from France but in reality these baby devices can be found for sale elsewhere as well.

As reported by the French magazine 60 millions de consommateurs, there are over 10 advertisements on the net like these: “Folding cradle that swings. Very practical during the day for the first few months of the baby. Good conditions".

Here it is present in some posts on the Vinted marketplace.

Apparently there is nothing strange. The problem is that the item for sale is a Graco-branded bassinet considered dangerous. This "rocking bed" is a cross between a cradle, a swing and a deckchair. It looks comfortable and harmless but can actually present a choking hazard to infants.

Not surprisingly, since January 29, 2020 it has been the subject of a recall measure in the United States where it was marketed between 2013 and 2018. And it is not the only object of its kind accused of being dangerous for children.

Cullette killer: four other models withdrawn in the US due to the risk of suffocation

The most well-known recall undoubtedly concerns the Fisher Price hammock bed, accused of causing the death by suffocation of dozens of children in the United States.

The danger of these devices was later scientifically demonstrated by Erin Mannen, an expert in baby biomechanics, and her team at the University of Medical Sciences in Arkansas. In their study, published in October 2019, they compare the baby's position and movements at various inclinations and conclude that there are indeed risks if the baby is in a semi-sitting position and turns over. The risk of suffocation is particularly high when the inclination exceeds an angle of 10 °.

After the hype about the so-called cullette killer case, Consumer Report, the American consumer magazine, fought for Amazon, eBay and Alibaba to immediately remove these products from sale. Which actually has been done.

However, 60 millions de consommateurs makes it known that the Graco model has not yet been recalled in France. It also draws attention once again to the dangers that reclining beds and sleep swings can be for our children.

Since, beyond the references and as shown in the photo, some of these objects may be on sale in thrift stores and online, we pay particular attention and avoid buying them.
