The child died in 2014, struck down by brain cancer, and now the family has requested compensation of 25 million from the managers of the steel plant. Little Lorenzo experienced a real ordeal, as happened to many of his peers. During his short life he has undergone about thirty surgeries, during which metals and other pollutants are found in the baby's brain. But how was it possible? In reality, during her pregnancy Lorenzo's mother had worked in the Tamburi district, the most exposed to the poisons of the factory. From there began the investigations that led to the discovery of the link between the pollution and the death of the baby.
Unfortunately, the compensation requested by the family obviously will not help to bring Lorenzo back to life, but it would be a small victory for the parents of the child and for many others who have seen their children get sick and die due to the Taranto eco-monster, which continues to to massacre in general silence. Last December, not even another 11-year-old warrior from the Tamburi ward, struck down by a rare tumor, did not make it.
