Jonah, the crochet prodigy kid is raising thousands of dollars for Ethiopian orphans, one stitch at a time

Jonah, an 11-year-old crochet genius, is launching a fundraiser to help Ethiopian children develop their talents.

His name is Jonah Larson and he is a child like many others were it not for one particularity: at the age of 5 he learned the art of crochet by himself watching video tutorials on Youtube and today, who is 11 years old, is considered a real one prodigy.

The first creation, which he made when he was still 5 years old, was a tea towel and hasn't stopped since then thanks to both his passion and the donations of material from numerous fans. Donations that encouraged him to move forward and for which Jonah is very grateful. To the point of wanting to do something equally generous for other children, the Ethiopian ones, the land from which Jonah comes and which he left after his adoption, without forgetting his roots.

Thanks to the fame gained in recent years, Jonah has in fact decided to launch a fundraiser on GoFundMe to support, in collaboration with Roots Ethiopia, a non-profit organization in his village of birth, poor rural schools and helping mothers and young people to identify their strengths and develop entrepreneurial skills.

This is something that Jonah has been able to do since he was a child, so much so that today he has his own business, "Jonah's Hands", and he is very popular on social networks: just look at his Instagram page where the aesthetics of the artifacts are so accurate, with well combined and innovative designs, to leave any crochet enthusiast open-mouthed.

His very popular series, called “Learn to crochet with Jonah” teaches everyone this wonderful art, clearing prejudices, among other things, since crochet is often associated with women.

His creations have been published in several magazines, including the trade magazine “Crochet World”, he also makes frequent television appearances and appeared on the TODAY show hosted by Kelly Clarkson. In short, she is now a star!

With the fame came also the collaborations with names of excellence, including Daniel Sheehan of Atlanta, who met him thanks to Instagram and who today is guiding him in the design of his fashion line.

But the secret of his success lies not only in his genius but in the love he shows for people, confirmed by the fundraising for his homeland, Ethiopia. He will certainly succeed in helping Ethiopian children and mothers to grow and develop their talents. For our part, we can help him achieve this important goal by making a donation on GoFundMe.

Congratulations on your talent and your little but big generosity, Jonah!
