Creative recycling of old paintings: add "color"

Creative recycling of old paintings: personalize them with a word

Creatives from all over the world revisit old poor quality paintings in original and decidedly unusual ways. For example by personalizing them with a word or a phrase.

Choose a word that inspires you and write it on a piece of paper. Then look for a cute typeface and try to imitate it manually. Alternatively, you can write the word on the computer directly with the chosen font and print it on a sheet of paper.

If you proceed by hand, you will have to rewrite the word on the old painting with acrylic paints or permanent markers, positioning it in the center or elsewhere depending on the result you want to obtain. And if you get along with the lettering even better!

If you prefer to use printing, cut out the letters with scissors and glue them on the canvas in the desired position.

Creative recycling of old paintings: renew them with a touch of color

The bright colors transform your poor quality dated painting into a real work of art. You can indulge yourself using your favorite palette: just dip the brush in your chosen colors (acrylics are great) and customize the old painting with creativity. Obviously don't do this on valuable paintings!

You can also apply masking tape to a part of the painting to protect it, and brush the rest of it with a color of your choice or use spray cans. Wait for the color to dry and remove the paper tape. Here are some examples that are inspired by the works of contemporary creatives and artists.
