Hyperthermia, which kills especially between the ages of 0 and 4, can occur even with temperatures around 22 ° C and the reason is obvious: the passenger compartment can overheat up to over 40 ° C, even if the outside temperature values ​​are not particularly high. And if it is very hot, the temperature inside a car can rise from 10 ° to 15 ° C every 15 minutes. Hyperthermia can occur in as little as 20 minutes and death can occur within approximately 2 hours.

The Ministry of Health has focused attention, in an interesting booklet on the dangers of heat for children and has compiled a list of some rules to prevent hyperthermia accidents, even fatal ones.

How to transport children by car in the summer heat:

1. If you see a child alone in the car, call immediately 112 (single European number for emergencies) or the 113.

2. If you are carrying a child in the back seat of the car, a useful precaution can be to leave your personal items (bag, telephone ...) in the back seat, next to the child, so that you are "forced" to turn your eyes once you have to. get out of the car. The same thing would be to place the puppy's objects (diapers, bags and bottles) on the front seat, so that they remember the presence of the child.



3. When you accompany the child to the nursery or kindergarten, add a reminder on the mobile phone (or on paper), which can indicate whether or not you have brought the child to the destination, as planned.

4. Whenever a change of program when picking up or accompanying the child, let them know who is closest to you

5. Ask the person who normally takes care of the child (kindergarten teachers or babysitter) to warn you if the child has not been accompanied to kindergarten or day care, as usually happens.


6. Install a warning device, sound or light, which is activated when you turn off the engine and leave without taking the child.


7. When no one is in the car, close the doors and the rear trunk and keep the keys out of the reach of children.
