Come prepare the potpourri

Combine the selected ingredients in a bowl, preferably of wood, starting from dried flowers and dried aromatic herbs. You can use a pestle to chop everything evenly. If you want, add seeds, spices, citrus peel and tea leaves to the potpourri. Mix the chosen ingredients with a wooden spoon.

Your potpourri, depending on the chosen ingredients, it will have a more or less intense natural fragrance. If you have given preference to citrus peels, you can perfume your potpourri with a few drops of sweet orange, mandarin or lemon essential oil. If you have chosen lavender flowers, add a few drops of the corresponding essential oil and so on. Let yourself be guided by the sense of smell to create the aromatic combinations you prefer.

After adding the essential oils, mix the potpourri well with a wooden spoon. If you will not use it immediately or if you want to give it as a gift, pour the potpourri into a glass jar to close with a lid so that the aroma is maintained for a long time. You can do the same operation even before pouring your potpourri into the container of your choice to be placed in your home or in the bags for the cupboards, so that the ingredients are well impregnated with the scent of essential oils.

Leave the potpourri in the glass jar even for one or two weeks to get a more intense scent. For better fix the perfume of the essential oils of your potpourri, it may be useful to add a teaspoon of cornstarch.

Plan to use 20-30 drops of essential oil to prepare your potpourri and to add a few more drops every now and then to revive the scent.

After pouring the potpourri into the bowl of your choice, you can think of decorating it on the surface, for example with non-chopped flower petals, with star anise or with cinnamon sticks, but also with pine cones, leaves and twigs.
