A campaign by Telefono Azzurro on the occasion of the 31st Universal Children's Rights Day (celebrated yesterday 20 November), shared with the hashtag #primaibambini is a real shock: the message is an accusation against those who think of animals first than puppies of man. An atrocious message not very different from the many who distort the concept of right, transforming it into a privilege.
We are flooded with "first someone", as if rights had to be pitted against each other to assert themselves, forgetting that in a war there are only losers and no victors. Epic fail also by Telefono Azzurro, which has been fighting for children's rights for decades. But that today pits them against those of animals, moreover, in the specific case, those of a family dog, which had attracted the attention of man.

Rain of criticism against the association, flooded with angry messages on all social accounts, which defends itself by supporting the intention to sound the alarm of how children are invisible. But instead of showing a man trying to save a material object by forgetting the little ones, he puts on video someone who "prefers" a dog, part of the family, to children.
What could a child think, who maybe lives with a four-legged friend, seeing the commercial? That that dear friend of yours might be preferred (unfairly) to him or her? So that what part of the family has always thought is actually a danger?

No, we're not there. We cannot accept that in order to affirm someone's sacrosanct rights one has to trample on someone else's. And we cannot accept that such messages are dangerously disclosed under the very eyes of children.
"It seems impossible? Yet it is happening today ”thunders the campaign.

Some negative reactions expressed towards the video released yesterday, on the occasion of World Children's Day, make it necessary to make a clarification on the part of Telefono Azzurro, to reiterate the urgency that animated the association in this circumstance. #BABYFIRST indicates a priority, not an option. The hashtag wants to underline how the needs of the little ones must immediately be included in the institutional agendas with priority over everything else, even adults. The burning house shows that there is no more time: the distance from school, from play and from relationships has a destructive impact on the psycho-physical well-being of minors. The dog, whom we love and respect like other living beings, does not want to be a victim to be left behind but rather to remind us that the same devotion shown to our faithful friend belongs to all the children who, on the other hand, have been placed since the first DPCM. aside. To provoke an emotional reaction we used strong scenes, but the defense of childhood is a decisive argument for our future: children first of all, even adults.
