The 5 best dads in the animal kingdom. When it comes to paternal instincts in the animal kingdom, it is difficult to find individuals who go beyond mere procreation to carry the species forward. However, there are some exceptions of wonderful fathers who dominate the male parenting scene, playing a pivotal role in the rearing of the little ones (sometimes in full for the mother!).

Emperor penguin
There are few examples in nature of a father more dedicated to the children of the emperor penguin. After the female lays her eggs, her nutritional reserves are depleted and she has to go back to feeding in the sea for two months. This means that the responsibility of keeping the egg warm through, protected from the freezing Antarctic winter, it belongs to his father. The father will spend two months hatching the egg between its legs, never abandoning it, without eating for days and days, without sheltering from the cold. What a dad!
Seahorse
The first point in favor of male seahorses is that, unlike most other fish, they are monogamous and companions for life. But the even more bizarre feature is that they are the only species on earth where it is the male who "gives birth" to the little ones. To them goes my second place in the standings.
Wolf
Despite their fearsome reputation as predators, male wolves are attentive, monogamous and protective dads with their young, who will live in the herd for life. When the female gives birth, the wolf does not leave her lair for several weeks, stands guard and hunts for food to share with her new family.
Tamarind
The tamarin (Saguinus fuscicollis) is a small South American monkey, best known for its characteristic whiskers. What is perhaps less well known is that fathers take care of the little ones immediately after giving birth, bringing them back to the mother every 2 or 3 hours for half an hour breastfeeding. All the rest of the time it is the father who holds the new baby in his arms and takes care of him.
Swan
Not only is it a (fairly) faithful companion, but the swan also collaborates with nest building, participates inegg incubation, alternating with the female or remaining to guard and, during the hatching, accompanies the young in the water as they come out of the shell. Here's another dad present from the animal kingdom.
