The problem of bee dying due to pesticides is far from being resolved, as this latest event in Caldonazzo in the province of Trento testifies. Here the beekeepers are reporting a suspected die-off of bees and the WWF Trentino reports the typical symptoms of pesticide poisoning in insects.

Several bees in recent days have been found dead and convulsing in Caldonazzo. A situation that seems to be more serious and serious than last year, at least according to local beekeepers.

As Francesco Mezzo, beekeeper from Pergine told Il Dolomiti:

“Unfortunately, it often happens even if this year the problem has presented itself in an even more evident way than usual. Once the flowering of the apple tree is over, there is that of the Dandelion, the dog's tooth, on which bees often rest. Due to the drought, currently most of the flowering of the dog's tooth is concentrated in the irrigated areas, therefore in the fields, mainly those of vines, cherry and apple trees. Usually, at the end of flowering, the apple and cherry trees are treated with some insecticides. However, it is necessary to take certain precautions ".

Precautions, such as mowing the lawns, doing the treatment outside the bees' flight area and when there is no wind. However, these precautions have obviously not been taken (at least by some farmers).

Here then is that the bees attracted by the dandelion end up poisoned and present a series of terrible symptoms: the tongue folds outwards, they move in an uncoordinated way and in some cases they are agitated by convulsions, moreover they lose their orientation and cannot anymore to return to their hive.

An assured and cruel death!

However, WWF Trentino specifies in a post on Facebook that:

“Don't mean the following for what it shouldn't be, which is an attack on the category of farmers. It should be understood as an opportunity to discuss the problem, which is objectively known and which can be solved ".
