Green turning point for the US toy giant famous for its models: they will be made with recycled materials and will teach children about new mobility

As the cars we travel with change, so do the ones our little ones play with. Mattel has in fact announced that his very famous die-cast metal models with which generations of children have played and still play will be increasingly eco-sustainable.
The first concrete example starts from the brand Matchbox: the Tesla Roadster in miniature is the first CarbonNeutral certified scale model.

È made with 99% recycled materials: 62,1% recycled zinc and 36,9% recycled plastic, to go into detail. The remaining 1% not recycled is represented by the stainless steel of the axles that support the wheels.
Matchbox's 1:64 scale Tesla Roadster will be on the market from 2022 and will be joined by other electric models that will gradually be added to the collection.

The move by the Californian toy giant is part of the plan called "Drive Toward a Better Future" which aims for Matchbox to 100% recycled and recyclable materials such as bioplastics in its toys and packaging by 2030.

The miniature Tesla Roadster packaging is made from FSC-certified recycled materials and the internal support is made from 70% organic materials derived from potatoes.

Future Matchbox toy cars and playsets, the US company claims, will also have a pedagogical function: “Children live their adventures with authentic Matchbox die-cast vehicles, including the electric and hybrid vehicles they see on the roads every day. We are increasing the number of models in our product line that represent these vehicles, while integrating green behaviors and themes into our larger vehicles and playsets, such as our Matchbox Sorted Collection Truck and the new Matchbox Action Drivers Service Station which includes a charging station for electric vehicles », reads the company's website.
