He had been hit by a passing train and was lying in agony right next to the tracks, but the story of this white dog has a happy ending: he was saved by a train driver and the conductor who promptly called for help.
It happens in trafficking Lecce-Martina Franca managed by the Sud Est railways. On January 9th, a dog had been hit by a passing train, the driver of the regional 90718 who left Lecce at 14.36 pm was the first to notice the dying animal. Agonizing and lying on the ground, the dog that was near the station of Salice-Veglie, in Salento, at the sight of the man had tried to escape, but fortunately without success. So the driver and conductor activated the rescue car. Local Police and Carabinieri arrived on site, as well as volunteers from the National Animal Protection Agency and the voluntary association San Francesco Amici degli Animali.
The elderly and cold dog, with drool in the mouth and partially paralyzed, was rescued and taken to a veterinary facility in Trepuzzi, in the province of Lecce, where he is currently, but out of danger.

Everyone was moved by the gesture of one of our train drivers and one of our train conductors, who on 9 January saved a dog near the railway tracks between Lecce and Martina Franca.?
Thanks to the good heart of our two colleagues and the rescue machine that immediately activated, is our little friend now safe in a veterinary facility, where vets are taking care of him? A beautiful example of humanity and empathy that makes us proud once again to have such people with us
And actually if it weren't for the big heart of these two people, there probably would have been nothing more to do for the dog, small gestures that still make us hope for the human race.
