The river Sarno is the river of poisons again, its waters are now again turbid and foul-smelling.
The blame for this destruction would be attributed to the usual illegal and unsafe industrial waste. But nature's revenge lasted very little.
The images that testify to the return to pollution in less than 24 hours of resumption of activities in Phase 2 were sent by several citizens to the Councilor of the Campania Region of the Greens, Francesco Emilio Borrelli, together with those of the sea waters of the port of Baia , in Bacoli, and of the Coppola Village, in Castel Volturno.
The same fate also for the Regi Lagni, a network of straight canals, mostly artificial, whose basin extends over an area of 1.095 km² in 99 municipalities of the metropolitan city of Naples and the provinces of Caserta, Avellino and Benevento. Here, too, you can see polluted waters full of waste.
“What we feared is taking place. The return of production and human activities is bringing our sea, our rivers, our air and our territories back to the same disastrous conditions they were in before the health emergency. We must not underestimate this alarm bell because at this rate things will get worse and worse until we reach a point of no return and then we will find ourselves in a much more devastating disaster than an epidemic. This is why we have asked for sweeping checks on companies and industries that have reopened to stop a new environmental devastation. We must begin to think and implement an eco-compatible economic system and above all we must wage war on the criminals who pollute our land, with illegal and abusive spills, we need a hard fist with these people ”, said Councilor Borrelli.
