We are not on the set of a science fiction movie. There ghost forest di Neskowin really exists. It is located in Oregon, in a small coastal town between Lincoln City and Pacific City. The Ghost Forest is formed from the remains of an ancient Sitka tree grove.

Il Sitka spruce it is native to the west coast of the United States and is the third largest conifer in the world, after the sequoia and the Douglas fir. It can reach 50 meters in height, up to 70 or even 90 meters as an exception.

The ghost forest was hidden in the sand until a violent forest that occurred in the winter between 1997 and 1998 hit the Oregon coast. The storm eroded part of the beach and brought it to light a hundred tree trunks.

Until then, the ghost forest had represented a real legend. Residents of the area reported that those trees had only appeared a few times over the course of several decades and only briefly.

Since 1998, however, the Neskowin Ghost Forest has remained clearly visible on the beach. The trunks of the trees would be 2000 years old, according to the researchers' estimates. Between 1600 and 1700 a tsunami generated by a earthquake it would have repercussions on the west coast of the United States, submerging the forest with sand.
