The technical commission for the verification of the environmental impact of the Ministry of the Environment - Via and Vas - in fact, he expressed negative opinion and deemed incompatible with the “Banco di Pantelleria and Banchi Avventura off-shore wind power plant” project presented by Four Wind srl. The risk mainly concerns the biodiversity of the area, which is part of the EU "Natura 2000" network, for the protection of habitats, but also the possible repercussions onfish economy and seismicity of the area.
The 4wind had well two development plans on the island of Pantelleria: the first at "Adventure benches on the Pantelleria side", Which provided for the construction of 10 aerogenerators to 6MW, for a total power of 60MW; the second, on the other hand, would have concerned the "Banco Pantelleria”, Where the company would have installed 28 aerogenerators to 6MW for a power of 168 MW.
But the risks for biodiversity and health would have been too many, so stop with new projects.
