Un lager breeding, where they were crammed over 850 dogs. Many of the animals, about half, were also affected by brucellosis. It was kidnapped by the Carabinieri in the province of Ancona. Five people have been investigated so far.

Confined to confined spaces, poorly ventilated, sick. So 850 small in between chihuahuas, poodles and Maltese they lived for weeks, perhaps months, on a farm in Trecastelli. There were over 850 but the structure that housed them was authorized for a maximum of 61 animals. Thus, after a control and delegated by the Public Prosecutor of Ancona, the Carabinieri of the Nipaaf (Environmental, Agri-food and Forestry Police Unit) seized the farm, with the collaboration of the zoophile guards of WWF and Legambiente and of the volunteers of the association 'Amici Animali' of Osimo.

Ansa reveals that about half of the dogs were affected by Brucella canis, an infectious disease also transmissible to humans, of which breeding is currently the only outbreak in the European Union.

Not just breeding. Even in the adjoining house, the Carabinieri found another 270 dogs, many closed in carriers stacked on top of each other or in plastic containers in precarious hygienic conditions, most likely destined for sale.

Unfortunately, it is not the first time that the Trecastelli kennel, particularly active in the sale of small dogs, is surprised to treat animals in these conditions. In the last 3 years it has been subjected to restrictions several times. But apparently it wasn't enough and the number of animals inside has risen exponentially. In fact, in 2018 there were 500 detected but the latest kidnapping counted over 850 in addition to the 270 detainees in the house.

The 5 people under investigation are accused of non-compliance with the provisions of the Health Authorities and detention of animals in conditions of suffering.

We hope that the poor animals can find a new home. There is still no news of their fate or if and when it will be possible to adopt them.
