For the cleansing of the bathroom, our grandmothers recommended the use of vinegar - the "limescale eater" par excellence. Its effectiveness in eliminating traces of limescale from surfaces is undeniable: unfortunately, despite being a "natural" product without surfactants, in combination with water the vinegar releases highly toxic substances, which end up in the waste water and they go to pollute the waterways, threatening the health of animals. Here are some natural remedies alternative to vinegar and certainly less polluting.

Baking soda
We can use bicarbonate to eliminate those limescale deposits that are particularly difficult to remove: we create a solution with two glasses of hot water and a half of bicarbonate (we can also add a few drops of essential oil of our choice to perfume), then we use an old toothbrush. teeth or a brush to rub it on the tiles or glass of the shower enclosure; for a more delicate action we can use the fingertips or a soft cloth.
We can also use lemon juice, always in combination with baking soda, and create a kind of "paste" that we will distribute on the glass and tiles with the help of a sponge: after letting it act for a quarter of an hour, rinse with hot water and dry well - the surfaces will be shiny. Be careful not to use bicarbonate on the taps and steel parts: we would risk damaging them!
Citric acid
Citric acid is also an effective anti-limescale remedy that does not create problems for the environment and that can help us in cleaning the shower. Let's dissolve 150 grams in a liter of distilled water and vaporize the solution obtained on the surfaces we want to free from limestone. Let it act for a few minutes in order to dissolve the limescale and then wipe with a microfibre cloth to remove traces of dirt.
Also in this case, we avoid using this solution on the taps or on the marble parts, which could be damaged by the acid solution: in this case, it is better to vaporize the solution on a microfiber cloth and use this for cleaning.

Password: prevention
As always, prevention is better than cure. For this reason we suggest you to prevent the formation of excessive accumulations of limescale inside the shower compartment or on the taps, which will then be difficult to remove. One method to prevent the formation of limescale is to not give the water time to deposit its load of minerals on the surfaces: immediately after taking a shower, we rinse the tiles and taps with running water and we carefully dry each part. This will prevent limescale from building up.
If we want a solution that ensures a better yield, we can invest in the purchase of a water softener: in this way the water will be much less "hard" and full of limescale and the problem of limescale in the shower compartment will be practically solved.
