Being in the glasses cupboard clean but dull it can be a nuisance, especially if we are about to welcome guests: even if we have washed them, the glass of the glasses is covered with an opaque patina that makes them look dirty, and we are forced to rewash them.

The patina, in reality, is nothing more than the limestone present in the water that is deposited on the surface during washing and which appears once the water has dried. This problem can occur whether we wash the glasses by hand or wash the dishes with the help of the dishwasher. But with this three-step trick our glasses will be shiny and shiny again effortlessly, and we will make a good impression on our guests.

The first phase consists in degreasing the glasses, to eliminate traces of dirt and grease from the glass. To do this, equip ourselves with a basin in which we will soak the opaque glasses: fill it with boiling water in which we will melt two tablespoons of Marseille soap flakes. Insert the glasses and leave them completely immersed in the solution for a few minutes, then rub them gently with a soft sponge so as not to scratch them: the heat of the water will have dissolved the dirt and the presence of the soap will help us to eliminate it easily.

After cleaning the glasses well, the lemon juice will help make them shiny and eliminate any trace of limescale: fill the bowl again with moderately hot water, in which we will squeeze a whole lemon. Many recommend using alcohol or wine vinegar, which is indeed an excellent limescale eater, but is also highly polluting when diluted with water, as it releases acetic acid. The lemon, on the other hand, despite having a strong descaling power, does not pollute and can therefore be used with ease for house cleaning: just leave the glasses in the acid solution for a few minutes, without even having to rub with a sponge.

The last stage of cleaning consists rinsing the glasses with warm water and drying them carefully (with a clean cotton cloth), so that there are no traces of water containing limescale that would end up frustrating our work. The glasses will be as good as new.
