How to solve the problem of clothes that smell of sweat even after being washed? The best tricks and home remedies to eliminate bad smells

The smell of sweat can be very persistent and remain on a shirt or shirt even after they have been washed. When not even the washing machine is enough, we just have to experiment with very simple home remedies that are prepared with the help of 3 ingredients that we all have at home.

If you are unable to remove the stench of sweat from some clothing (this often happens in the case of synthetic fabrics), you can experiment with one of the simple remedies that we present to you, useful precisely to remove persistent smells of sweat from clothes.

Unfortunately, such odors in some cases are not completely removed from clothes in a washing machine cycle at 30 or 40 degrees. This usually means that not all bacteria that have infiltrated the fabric causing the bad smell have been completely eliminated during the wash.

Washing the affected clothing in a warmer temperature is usually not a good idea for either delicate fabrics or from an environmental point of view. The alternative is to use one of these 3 ingredients correctly: citric acid, soda or vinegar. That's how.

Citric acid

Citric acid helps eliminate the smell of sweat from clothes but at the same time whitens. Therefore the advice is to use this remedy only on light colored linen. Just put about a liter of water in a large bowl and add four teaspoons of citric acid powder. Soak the garment for about an hour before proceeding with washing in the washing machine.

Citric acid can also help against yellowish spots that can form on white laundry when you sweat and use some deodorants.

Soda

Laundry soda is a great stain remover. However, like citric acid, soda has a whitening effect and should therefore be used with caution and only on garments that are not likely to fade. In a basin put 5 liters of water and a spoonful of soda. Soak the smelly clothes for a few hours before washing them in the washing machine.

Vinegar

Vinegar kills bacteria and thus removes unpleasant odors from clothes. Don't worry about its strong smell, this vanishes as soon as the clothes are washed in the washing machine again.

Immerse the item to be treated in a basin full of warm water and vinegar (the ratio must be 4: 1). Leave it immersed for an hour and then proceed with washing.

One more tip

To avoid bad smells on clothes, always remember to empty the washing machine immediately after it has finished its cycle and hang the laundry to dry as soon as possible. If wet clothes are left in the appliance for too long, they quickly start to smell and bacteria can form.
