How to explain respect for animals to children: the beautiful anecdote by Jane Goodall

In Jane Goodall's childhood there is a great little story that contains an important teaching. Jane Goodalls is known throughout the world as the "Lady of the Chimpanzees". For years she has been fighting for their defense and her love for animals and the environment was born when she was still a child.

From an early age Jane had the opportunity to learn that life in captivity is not natural to animals. On his Facebook page . recently revealed an anecdote that at the same time helps us to smile and reflect.

As a child she had been fascinated by a group of earthworms that he had found in the backyard. So she had decided to take a handful and take them with her to her cot, like any child would do with a stuffed animal.

Jane's mother, after noticing the little girl's gesture, took the opportunity to explain something important to her. She told her that if she kept the earthworms in her bed they would die because they need the earth to live.

Jane quickly understood the lesson and brought the earthworms back to the yard. Since she was a child, she has learned how important it is for animals to live in their own habitat. The anecdote also teaches about the strong impact a parent's words can have on a child's future. In this case the words of Jane's mother they turned out to be prophetic, since later the daughter decided to dedicate her life to the defense of the environment and animals.

With a simple teaching and example you too can help your children to respect animals and nature. Do not forget, in fact, that it is especially during childhood that the adults of tomorrow are formed.
