Fiori pink, whites. A whole expanse of colors where before there was only the desert. And not a desert any one but one of the most famous, that of Atacama in Chile. There, these days is in progress an unusual flowering.

Tourists and residents flocked to admire the spectacle of the desert strangely in color.

The phenomenon known as "florid desierto" is not very rare but usually occurs every five or seven years, when the rains bathe the earth, favoring the growth of vegetation.

But this flowering arrives only two years after that of 2015. Two years ago, in fact, the one that is considered the driest area on earth was the protagonist of a worrying flowering. The presence of flowers, so many, in the desert was not in fact good news since it was a very vast phenomenon.

In the driest non-polar expanse of the Earth, the rains were abundant to the point of creating the ideal conditions for flowering. desert surface, suddenly came out.

Today, as then, beyond 200 native species of plants have peeped out of the arid earth, with their load of rare colors and scents.

The Atacama Desert in bloom again, the last flowering dates back to 2015 although on average the phenomenon occurs every five or seven years. Despite the extreme aridity, the desert is home to nearly 1900 animal and plant species, more than a third of which are found only in this region. #atacama #atacamadesert #chile #flowers #pg #photography #amazing #event #spectacular #wow #nature #power #interesting #phenomeno #real # aridity #warming #rainy #rain #raining #sepulveda

?A flowery desert? Flowers cover the desert landscape in the #Huasco region. … It is not every year that the #atacama desert in #Chile blooms. It depends on the rains of the year and other weather conditions. The last flowering was in 2015. (27/08/17) ? Martin Bernetti/AFP

And if on the one hand botanists and flower lovers are happy to admire colorful expanses, on the other it is legitimate to ask why deserts, even the most arid, flourish.
