    The famous sequoia was located in the park Calaveras Big Trees. It was the most loved and majestic sequoia in the United States.

    Its peculiarity was the presence of a tunnel which had been dug at the base of the sequoia to allow the passage of tourists' cars at the beginning of the twentieth century. The trunk of the sequoia measured 10 meters in diameter.

    The sequoia it collapsed on Sunday 8 January due to strong gusts of wind, during a storm that hit the park where it was located.

    La sequoia with the 'tunnel' however, it is not considered so much a victim of the storm as more a victim of tourism, because it could have been the presence of the famous passage that actually made it more fragile even though it was a giant that favored the collapse.

    The presence of the tunnel had made the sequoia less stable for years and was now leaning on its side. Until now Pioneer Cabin Tree was considered one of the most majestic and fascinating trees on the planet.

    For this reason many people who had had the opportunity to admire it in the years have been remembering her on Facebook publishing photographs, as if they were an old friend who disappeared.

    Between tourism and climatic adversities, the end of this majestic sequoia has come sooner than expected. We say goodbye in the hope that from now on man remembers to preserve at least the most majestic and rarest trees in the world.
