Uno show natural that leaves you breathless. The hair of some imposing aromatic Dryobalanops trees, viewed from below, they show a embroidery green which has a very special feature: the hair comes close but does not touch, creating a precise space between one tree and another. A phenomenon known as Crown Shyness which can only be admired in certain places on Earth.
Even today there is no certain explanation. One of the rare places is in Malaysia, precisely Kuala Lumpur. All the images accompanying this article were taken there.
What appears certain is that one forms around each tree space empty which separates it from the neighboring ones and is well visible da land. The phenomenon is more common among trees of the same species, but also occurs among trees of different species.
Since 1920 the world of science has been wondering about the origin of this natural spectacle but even today the causes have not been well understood.

One hypothesis suggests that the empty space around the crown of the tree could be generated by the breaking of the branches and by them collisions between one branch and another during storms due to strong winds.

It was shown that by reducing the shocks, the empty spaces gradually tended, even if partially, to fill up.

The researchers also found that the phenomenon is absent when the trees are young and low. Conversely, it is increasingly common once trees grow taller and are hit more by the wind.

A Malaysian scholar on aromatic Dryobalanops, however, found no evidence of contact abrasions but speculated that the top leaves may be more sensitive to light, ceasing to grow if approached adjacent foliage.

Finally, it has been speculated that it may be a defense mechanism of trees to prevent insect larvae from spreading.
Gorgeous embroidery made by the skilled hands of Mother Nature.
