Easter: Codacons has thought of drawing up a sort of vademecum for "safe purchases without cheating", to spread useful advice and avoid excesses or bad choices.

Don't store avocado like this: it's dangerous

Chocolate eggs and typical Easter products. If you are one of those who are still struggling with shopping before the holidays, keep in mind some simple rules so as not to get lost in the maze of last-minute purchases and not to find yourself in poor quality or poor quality food.

This is why Codacons has thought of drawing up a sort of vademecum for "safe purchases without cheating", to spread useful advice and avoid excesses or bad choices.

Also in the preference of chocolate eggs and doves it is necessary to pay maximum attention, bearing in mind that quality products must have very specific characteristics.

Here are the rules to follow to spend a safe Easter at the table:

Index

Beware of owl products

They are those products that are sold in large supermarkets to bargain prices even before Easter: among these eggs and doves, distributed below cost to attract consumers and then also sell everything related. In this case, take advantage of the offer, but make a detailed shopping list first so that you don't buy things you don't need at the moment.

Where to buy

Choosing quality products does not necessarily mean spending a fortune. In this regard, Codacons informs that the most convenient businesses are: hard discount (you save up to 50% compared to the traditional store), and hypermarkets (-30% compared to the shop)

Compare real prices

Don't stop at the price of the pack, they often have different weights, so it's a secret to look at the prices per kilo

Watch out for 3 X 2

Go with caution and think carefully before buying for example 3 packs of doves ...

Alternative products

Who said that, compared to those of advertised and famous brands, they are still not of good quality? For example, there are often product lines with the same name and brand as the supermarket: their price is on average 10-15% lower than the items advertised in the commercials and they are usually of good quality. In this regard you can read:

eggs-or-chocolate-">Eggs or chocolate?

Remember that eggs cost much more than a bar of chocolate and a surprise bought separately, that you will have the advantage of being able to choose, thus also respecting the safety criteria (remember that egg surprises can be dangerous because they are too small. )

Read the label

Always read the label! Remember that the list of ingredients must, by law, be in descending order of concentration. The first ingredients are the most abundant and then, as they go down, they decrease in quantity

eggs

To be excellent, those made of chocolate must contain in order: cocoa powder and cocoa butter (cocoa mass), sugar, milk powder, natural flavoring. Cocoa butter is the most important element: check where it stands on the list

dove

A dove to be at the top should contain, in order: flour, sugar, eggs, butter, candied fruit. In particular, the eggs must be of category A (no egg white powder), the butter, to be preferred over margarine, must be no less than 16%, while the candied fruit must not be less than 15% (between 15 and 20%). Milk is optional but, if there is, it is preferable that it is not skimmed and powdered milk should be avoided. And the preservatives? Better that they are not there! If quality raw materials are used, there is no need for preservatives to reach the expiration date. The certification of an independent body certifying that the product is GMO-free is an indication of the seriousness of the company.
