DIY Lip Balm: 5 Self-Made Lip Balm Recipes

  • 6 g of cocoa butter
  • 2 g of shea butter
  • 2 g of mimosa or candelilla wax
  • 0,5ml Vitamin E (optional)
  • 3 drops of vanilla oleoresin

From the blog Pocket Cosmetics here's an idea to make a vanilla-scented lip balm. You will need to melt the butters and wax in a double boiler. Then remove from heat and add vitamin E and vanilla extract or essential oils. Pour the still fluid mixture into the container chosen for storage. Self-produced lip balm

  • 2 teaspoons of shea butter
  • 3-4 drops of essential oil
  • 1 small container with lid

Keep your self-produced lip balm in a small container with a lid, perhaps metallic. Candy boxes or empty containers of lip balms and ointments are fine. Pour the shea butter. You will need at least 2 teaspoons or a little more, depending on the size of the container. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, mix with a spoon until the shea butter takes on a creamy consistency and distribute it well in the box.

Sweet Orange Lip Balm

  • 2 teaspoons of cocoa butter
  • 2 teaspoons of shea butter
  • 3 drops of sweet orange essential oil
  • 1 drop of vitamin E (optional)

Pour the cocoa butter and shea butter into a saucepan. Place the saucepan in a pot in which you have poured boiling water and melt the butters a bain-marie, stirring occasionally with a teaspoon to mix the two ingredients well. Remove the saucepan from the heat and pour thesweet orange essential oil and Vitamin E, stir and pour the still liquid mixture into the chosen container.

Chocolate lip balm

  • 2 teaspoons of shea butter
  • 2 teaspoons of cocoa butter
  • 1 square of dark chocolate
  • 2 drops of natural vanilla flavoring (optional)

Pour the ingredients into a saucepan, starting with the chocolate. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil so that you can put the saucepan inside for the bain-marie. When the chocolate it will be almost melted, add the cocoa butter and the shea butter. Stir to mix well. Turn off the stove, add - if you have it - the natural vanilla flavor and mix again. Pour the mixture into the chosen container, let it set at room temperature and then transfer the lip balm into refrigerator, until it has solidified well.


Cinnamon lip balm

  • 2 teaspoons of shea butter
  • 2 teaspoons of cocoa butter
  • 2 drops of sweet almond oil
  • 1 pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 1 drop of cinnamon essential oil

Pour the cocoa butter and shea butter into a saucepan. Melt in a bain-marie, stirring gently. Add the sweet almond oil and mix the ingredients. Then add the cinnamon powder and mix again. Remove the saucepan from the heat and pour thecinnamon essential oil. It is enough a single drop, as it is very powerful. Mix and pour the liquid lip balm into the container of your choice. Let it cool first at room temperature and then in the refrigerator.
