Cyril Sontillano is nicknamed "father of plants" because he owns nearly 400 in his home in Monterey, California.

Cyril Sontillano owns nearly 400 plants and, not surprisingly, is nicknamed “Daddy Plant”, father of plants. The boy, who lives in California, has a real passion for green fingers and a house that, more than an apartment, looks like a lush oasis.

He defines himself as a "plant addict" and he himself confesses that he prefers the company of plants rather than people. Let's talk about Cyril Sontillano, 30 years old from Monterey (California), who has already spent about 5000 dollars for her splendid collection of houseplants, which she treats with care and love.

Tropical plants, cacti, succulents and various ferns fill every corner of his house and every week the boy makes a few new purchases (at least one or two plants). A collection that boasts about 200 different species for a total of 300 indoor and 70 outdoor plants.

Cyril proudly shows it on his Instagram profile where we discover that, in addition to his beautiful plants, the boy also surrounds himself with the company of equally beautiful cats.

“I have come from generations of plant lovers and farmers and I think it is something that I have acquired genetically and through the upbringing and environment in which I grew up. I enjoy gardening and caring for my plants and all the creative activities I do and involve them, ”said Cyril.

Everyone jokingly calls him "Plant Daddy", that is, the father of plants. The nickname comes from Cyril's habit of sending photos of his plants while his friends and his family usually send photos of their real children.

However, being a dad to all of these plants isn't an easy task - in fact it's pretty much a job. In fact, the boy spends a lot of time every day checking his plants and admiring their growth and during the weekend he dedicates himself to longer activities such as repotting, creating supports but also taking pictures and recording videos for his social media accounts. .

Cyril feels a deep connection with his plants and although he admits to having invested a lot in his collection (about $ 5000) he feels that it is money well spent as he defines what they offer him in exchange as "priceless".

“If other people have so much furniture, random objects or whatever they want to collect, why shouldn't I fill my house with plants. I consider my plants my collection, my furniture and my vices. Having plants around me is simply relaxing, they allow me to be creative and encourage me to be patient and resilient".

In addition, like any good father, Cyril has to worry every time he goes away from home for some time (never more than a week) planning in detail a whole series of irrigation systems and care of his plants.

"Everything is on a timer, including the grow lights and humidifiers and everything inside the house is monitored by a camera that I control via my phone"

He may be a bit "obsessed" with his plants but the result of Cyril's work and care for his "green children" is truly extraordinary!
