When we talk about jasmine, however, it is important to make distinctions, because we often come across the so-called false jasmine or rincospermo very similar to the original, but with equally different characteristics.

The "original" jasmine is known in botany with the name of Jasminum officinale, while the rincosperm or Trachelospermum jasminoides belongs to a completely different family, that of the Apocynaceae, of the genus Trachelospermum. Differences between jasmine and rincospermo

La distinction between the two plants it is already visible to the naked eye, and you don't need to be an expert in botany; the first thing to look at is the leaves, which in the original are of a tender consistency and a rather light green color. On the contrary, however, the false jasmine it has very simple leaves, leathery and dark green in color. 

Also by observing the white flower important differences can be noted, in fact, in the false jasmine there is a tubular corolla that opens into 5 petals that rotate clockwise, like a pinwheel; while in jasmine proper, the petals are flat and develop all around the central core, like a star. 

But that's not all, because there are also different origins; in fact, true jasmine comes from Persia, false jasmine originates in East Asia, from Vietnam to southern China, Japan and Korea. 

Plus, true jasmine loves a mild climate, while its distant cousin is one evergreen plant even in winter.

Uses and benefits of jasmine oil
