Google searches also confirm this: in 2020 we rediscovered the pleasure of gardening, even on the balcony of the house
2020 was the year we asked Google “why?”. It will certainly be remembered as the year of the pandemic but not only. We have been looking for ways to help each other, to support essential workers on the front lines of COVID-19 or how to help those affected by the fires in Australia or the devastation in Beirut. But we have dedicated ourselves more than ever to self-production and have rediscovered the pleasure of taking care of the vegetable garden.
In other words, we have reconnected with Nature in our small way. We could not find any other term to define it. Closed at home for most of the time, we realized that putting, or rather putting our hands back into the earth would do us good, showing us that everything depends on Mother Nature.
We have rediscovered the pleasure of planting, taking care of, reaping the fruit of our work, literally. In 2020, more than ever, we took advantage of home life to create a small vegetable garden on the balcony or in the garden. This is also demonstrated by Google which has just released trending topics including research, news, people, “how to”, virtual activities and more from almost 70 countries.
Among these the word “cultivate” has found its place followed by the names of vegetables, fruit and aromatic herbs to grow on the balcony, terrace or garden.
