La nature identity she is always surprising and finds a way to amaze us every day, thanks to her great creativity.

Did you know, for example, that one exists creature capable of thinking, learning and transmitting his knowledge despite not having a brain?

It is Physarum polycephalum, a single-celled being with a bright yellow color that has populated our planet for a billion years and that 40 years after its discovery by manor still represents an enigma for scientists.

I ricercators have not yet been able to classify this creature, which they nicknamed blob, and they don't know if it's an animal, a plant or a mushroom.

"The blob is a living being that belongs to one of the mysteries of nature," said Bruno David, director of the Natural History Museum in Paris.

A very particular being, capable with only one cell of doing many things that many of us are unable to do despite having billions of them.

First of all, the blob has not only two sexes, but seven hundred and twenty. Furthermore, while having no legs, wings or fins, it can move at a speed of one centimeter per hour, which can become four when blob starts running.
Blob is capable of getting food and digesting it, despite having no eyes, mouth and stomach.

If it gets hurt or even cut in half, it blobs is able to carry out a self-healing process that will put it back together in two minutes and, if it decides to do so, it can also merge the divided parts again.

It is an almost immortal living being, who fears only light and drought and who in adverse conditions can enter a sort of lethargy from which he can wake up when the external environment offers him a favorable situation.

And that's not all: blob seems to be endowed with extraordinary intelligence despite not having a brain.
This incredible creature indeed manages to solve complex problems, how to find the shortest way out of 60 thousand options to get out of a labyrinth.

Although it has no neurons, blobs is able to learn, to anticipate an environmental change and to communicate, sharing their knowledge to other blobs. Studying this being could pave the way for a better understanding of intelligence and the mechanisms that regulate thinking, memory and learning.

La extraordinary creature will be presented today at the Paris Zoological Park, which has dedicated an entire exhibition to the mysterious blob.

In the presentation video released by the French Park, we can admire the strange blob in action as it moves, grows and feeds.
