2010 will be the international year of biodiversity. This was announced by theInternational union for conservation of nature, (World Union for the Conservation of Nature, IUCN), which has launched an appeal for the protection of the environment.

THEIucn, in particular, he illustrated the importance of biodiversity for the very life of man. As he reported Neville Ash, head of the Iucn ecosystem program "biodiversity is the basis of all life on earth. We need concrete actions and support policies for the conservation of species, for the management and restoration of ecosystems, including protected areas and the wider landscape, to promote the sustainable use of natural resources ”.

The message is clear, more needs to be done. In fact, in 2010 the countdown for biodiversity, which was intended to reduce the extinction of species as much as possible. However, the results were not what was hoped for. Precisely for this reason, the IUCN took the field, to reiterate the need for one Convection on biodiversity. It should be remembered that extinction is an irreversible and unfortunately growing phenomenon. According to data provided by IUCN, the 21% of mammals, for an amphibian out of three, one bird on eight and the 27% of corals.
