Ukraine: These veterinary heroes have decided to stay in the country to help dogs, cats and other animals affected by war that otherwise would have died suffering, forgotten by all. With their team they recover the injured animals, treating them and putting them to safety

The atrocities of war spare nothing or anyone: schools, hospitals, homes and shelters and in the horror of the war conflict for those who have not been able or wanted to leave the country, the situation is becoming increasingly difficult. This is also the case for dogs, cats, horses that have died under bombs or from hardship, but among so much desperation there are also those who fight to save wounded animals, even at the cost of their lives.

And for these brave heroes, animals really come first. Jakub Kotowicz is a young Ukrainian veterinarian who, like many others, chose to stay after the outbreak of the war and to take care of the many dogs, cats and other animals, whose owners have never returned. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Jakub Kotowicz he rescued over 200 cats and 60 dogs with the foundation he is a member of.

With the help of other veterinarians, the team transits the Ukrainian territory around Lviv, recovering the injured animals that she meets along the way or that are reported to her and on board a car or one of the foundation's veterinary ambulances takes them to the border with Poland to visit them and intervene.

Jakub Kotowicz collabora con la ADA foundation, a body that provides veterinary care to animals of all kinds and welcomes them to its shelter in Przemsyl until they are adopted. The facility is a no-kill shelter and is located approximately 30 minutes from the Ukrainian border. Here, with his colleagues, he has been helping animals in distress for years. This is a rescue mission for example.

In fact, the recovered animals are temporarily found in Poland, but can be adopted throughout Europe. Among them there is also a lucky sheep with front leg problems that was found and treated by veterinarians.
