This treatment is a story of industrial-scale cruelty and abuse, ”explains Jan Schmidt-Burbach, Cruel Cures Global Head of Wildlife and Animal Welfare Research.

The report adds that although bear bile has been used for centuries primarily in traditional Chinese medicine to treat inflammation, lower cholesterol or cope with eye diseases, it is also used in products such as toothpaste, cosmetics or even alcohol.
