A tragedy occurred at the Nashville zoo: a baby giraffe died accidentally crushed by his own mother
He is about to end up run over, his mother saves himAt the Nashville Zoo, a newborn baby giraffe was accidentally crushed by its mother. The vets' attempts to save him were useless.
A small giraffe was born a few hours after a difficult birth which required a medical team. The birth, among other things, had become a real media event as the zoo had decided to broadcast it live online.
Nasha, this is the name of the pregnant giraffe, gave birth to a cub for the first time and, despite the complications during labor, everything seemed to have gone well in the end. Mom and baby were fine but, within a few hours, a terrible accident occurred: Nasha mistakenly crushed her puppy who died shortly after.
The sad announcement was made by the Nashville zoo itself in a post on Facebook.
When only a few hours earlier he had joyfully announced the birth of the little giraffe (only to post the update of the tragedy that occurred).
Although the care of the veterinary team was timely there was nothing for the puppy to be done. A first autopsy showed trauma to the little giraffe's neck, but further tests will follow to determine if there were other underlying causes of her death.
Though shocked by what happened, Nasha is fine and appears to be eating regularly. She will now have to adapt to the absence of that puppy that she had been waiting for so long, always remaining closed inside the zoo and not even being able to enjoy the freedom that she deserves.
