In the town of Abbiategrasso, in Lombardy, someone shot two young cattle in an animal shelter. Of the two guests, one has died, while the other is currently hospitalized in serious condition.
In the late evening between Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 March someone violated the limits of an animal sanctuary in the Milan area, shedding blood there.
Nestor and Bomber, two young cattle, who lived free in the shelter "The Neverland" of Abbiategrasso, they were hit by several gunshots that caused the death of Nestor and wounded Bomber, now hospitalized in serious condition. It is speculated that whoever made this barbaric gesture fired from outside the borders, presumably with a carbine.
The volunteers at the shelter, who care for so many animals from different realities, but who share a previous life of only exploitation, are shocked by the horrific action that will never find any justification, but rather is a real sacrilege, sanctuaries being sacred places where animals are given back the freedom stolen from them.
Those responsible have not yet been identified, but the shelter, together with the Network of Free Animal Sanctuaries, will do everything to ensure that this so ignoble gesture does not go unpunished and the guilty are condemned for the death of Nestor and the suffering of Bomber.

When you take a calf into your little shelter you think you have saved it. From a doomed fate. From wickedness. From brutality. From a speciesist culture. You think that no one will ever harm him. You promise him. To take care of him. To give him a peaceful life. To protect him. To give him a safe home. You love him. You look after him. You see him grow day by day. You see him become an adult. Then, one night like many others, while he is out enjoying the silence of the night, someone shoots. Four deafening shots. You run to check that he and everyone else are okay, and you find him there, bleeding, with bullet holes in his abdomen and around his neck, and you find him terrified, in agony. And in those moments you realize that your efforts, sacrifices and good intentions are dying along with him. A nightmare you just want to wake up from. But it's not a nightmare. And there is no awakening. This happened on Wednesday night. Nestor was violently torn from his life, his future, his bizarre family. And all of this happened in his house. In the place born to be his safe haven. And then there's him too, Bomber. His lifelong companion, hit, hurt. But survived the horror of those moments. He, Bomber, is now in the clinic. With a still uncertain fate. In the best case scenario, if all goes well, a long hospital stay awaits him, away from his family. What remains? The silence remains after the shots that echo in the ears and in the heart. Those bullets have come this far. The absence remains. The pain remains. But there is also the desire to fight. To not let go. To seek the truth and to obtain justice. For Nestor, for Bomber, and for all of them, considered. little more than nothing. In reality, too good for this world. We owe them. At least that.

When an animal is welcomed in a shelter, the volunteers make two promises: 1. here you will no longer be exploited: your body and your life will belong only to yourself, no one else will be able to dispose of them. 2.
