These puzzles contain as many pieces as there are individuals of endangered species in the world

It is the new proposal of WWF Canada, the puzzles with as many pieces as there are animals of four endangered species around the world. The puzzles will be available from the summer of this year to raise awareness among children about biodiversity at risk.

WWF Canada has thought of a special collection of puzzles, entitled “Endangered pieces puzzles”, dedicated to four animals from a vulnerable to a critical conservation status, being highly threatened with extinction. The protagonists of the collection are the giant panda, the Sumatran tiger, the killer whale and the sloth.

The four puzzles feature a unique feature: the number of pieces in each package corresponds the exact number of specimens of that species remaining worldwide, in nature. It is an impact strategy that aims to raise awareness and alert adults and children to the protection of the environment and its living beings.

1864 pieces for the giant panda, 400 for the Sumatran tiger, 79 for the sloth and 73 for the orca. Conspicuous numbers that should make us reflect a lot on the seriousness of the problem and think that it is only four of the species chosen by WWF Canada.

In this list, the giant panda certainly represents the greatest victory for the WWF, of which it is a symbol, and for all the other world NGOs that protect this species. The Asian mammal has in fact passed from endangered species to vulnerable species after more than 30 years of battles. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the sloth, threatened primarily by the deforestation of its habitat, but also by poaching and reckless tourism.

The collection will be available from summer 2022, but it is not the first time the organization has opted for these brilliant campaigns. In 2018 the WWF had already released portraits depicting some animals at risk of extinction, covered by as many pixels as animals remained in the world.
