This is what lies behind a glass of milk. With a new investigation, the LAV sheds light on the suffering of cows. The harsh images clash with the candid representation that marketing makes of a product like milk, which hides stories of exploitation, cruelty and conditions of detention of unacceptable and gruesome animals.

The video, shot in recent months in the Robecco d'Oglio farm, in the province of Cremona, the subject of two complaints by the association, in 2019 and 2020, tells the story of a cow, 7133 its identification number.

“From the video it is evident, 7133 is motionless, lying on the ground. Immersed in her own manure, wounded, without food or water, who knows how long - states the LAV - we imagine that, as happens to all cows reared for milk production, a few days after birth she was separated from her mother, raised with artificial foods and pregnancy. And her calf taken away shortly after her birth. And all this many times, because to produce milk the cows are continuously impregnated, until, exhausted and unable to stand on their paws, they are led to the slaughterhouse ".

This cow is no longer there, but with its lawyers, the Lav has managed to have the farm confiscated. Last year, the association had denounced the breeding of "dairy" cows in Robecco d'Oglio and spread images of hell in which about 400 cattle lived: animals in agony and left to die, mass graves, hygienic conditions- gruesome sanitation with sick individuals, including excrement, infested with worms, and milk collection tanks invaded by cockroaches. The result was a blitz by the Carabinieri Forestali of Brescia and Cremona, the evidential seizure for 21 cows, and the sanitary arrest for the remaining 400 animals entrusted to the Mayor of Robecco d'Oglio. Among the hypotheses of crime, mistreatment (544 ter Cp) and abandonment of animals (727 Cp). In July 2020, the association also released new images that confirmed the existence of identical animal treatment and sanitary conditions.

"Since then, more time has passed but this structure is still open, and despite our requests, the necessary measures to close the structure are not adopted - declares Roberto Bennati, Lav General Manager, who adds - we will continue to fight legally and publicly, to to get to the closure of this breeding, to re-establish the principle of legality, to restore dignity to these animals ".

According to the association: 'The pain of 7133 is the same as in the thousands of cows exploited every day for milk production. His gaze asks for justice for all of them. This is our commitment and this is what we will achieve. '
