If you follow the music charts, even abroad, you may know that a rather curious phenomenon has occurred. Conveniently located in the UK a piece made entirely of birdsong.

Looking at this month's chart of the UK's most popular singles, one would expect to find the usual artists of the moment and the pop stars of modern music. Instead, to be noticed, it was above all the very original singers who are quickly climbing the summit.

A song called "Let Nature Sing" is currently the eleventh most popular music single. What is it about? A song composed entirely of bird sounds launched last month by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds to raise awareness of the most vulnerable and endangered bird species.

The song, melodious and relaxing as only natural sounds can be, was created using 25 different bird sounds, from blackbirds to woodpeckers, robins to sparrows, all on the UK's endangered species list. The song is meant to reflect on the fact that beautiful singing animals like these are seriously at risk.

As Martin Harper, RSPB's director of conservation, said:

“Over the past few days, thousands of people have purchased and streamed our track for listen to the best singers of nature showing love for birdsong. This sparked a national discussion, as millions of people have heard, seen and read the facts showing that nature is in crisis in the UK. “Let Nature Sing” sends a powerful message, sure, nature is amazing, but it's also in trouble. The good news is that it is not too late, we know what needs to be done and together we can act to restore it for us and for future generations ”.

Hear for yourself what a harmonious melody was created and accompanied by "magical" Chinese shadows representing birds and their life.

If you want to help 'Let Nature Sing' reach number 10 on the UK charts before the month is over, you can purchase or stream the song from the Royal Society website.
