Wildlife is truly incredible and precious and defending it from extinction is our specific task
She was swimming blissfully off the coast of Lady Elliot Island in Queensland, Australia when photographer Mark Fitzpatrick met her. The sea turtle Terry was moving towards him and judging by the gesture she made she did not like her presence. The raised middle finger, however, allowed Mark to win the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2020, one of the most well-known photography awards in the world.
At the right moment, he took a picture of the tortoise's gesture which, clearly unconsciously, pulled up his middle finger. To enrich the picture was also the frowning expression of the animal.
All this did not go unnoticed in the eyes of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards 2020 jury who chose this as the winning photo among the 7 thousand submitted and the 42 finalists.

"I was swimming with this turtle at Lady Elliot Island on the Great Barrier Reef when he made this gesture to me!" was the comment of Mark Fitzpatrick, the author of the photo.
Contest organizers Tom Sullam, Paul Joynson-Hicks and Michelle Wood said Fitzpatrick's photo was "a favorite of the judges." Fitzpatrick won a safari in Masai Mara, Kenya, a Think Tank camera bag and a Nikon camera.

As many as 12 judges selected it as the overall winner ”.

This year the choice of the winning photo was difficult as many funny images arrived, from the bachelor party of the penguins to the raccoon stretching from the tree, from the swing made with the tails from the monkeys to the parrot fish of the Canary that gives a toothless smile.
