A majestic humpback whale was immortalized with the Statue of Liberty in the background by a lucky photographer. The surreal scene has left New Yorkers speechless, as sightings of this type are not frequent at all. Fortunately, however, in recent months it seems that in recent months the whales have returned to the waters of New York.
Bjoern Kils took a series of beautiful photographs of the humpback whale about 12 meters long. The photographer said the humpback whale emerged at about one minute intervals, passing the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and other iconic New York buildings.
Kils explained that he spotted the cetacean around 10 am near Ellis Island and immediately tried to warn other ships and several tugs to allow the humpback whale to continue swimming safely to the ocean.

According to data from the New York Coast Guard, over a dozen humpback whales have been sighted in recent years, some of them even 500 meters from the coast.
News that bodes well for the future of these wonderful creatures!
