They went away in silence, prey to terrible suffering. We are talking about the animals that in these hours have had to deal, in spite of themselves, with the fires that have hit Sardinia.
Almost 1.500 displaced people, over 20 thousand hectares of land, woods, olive groves and cultivated fields reduced to ashes. But also the animals are paying a very high price due to the fires that are devastating Sardinia and in particular the area of Oristano. Hard images are those that come from the island where horses, but also sheep, dogs, cats and birds were burned alive.
The latter in many cases have not been able to escape, to get to safety. The flames were too fast, the smoke poisoned them. There was no escape and this is how many animals lost their lives. The images circulating on social media today cause goosebumps and should invite us to reflect, once again.
