“The first time we tried to catch him was in April. But it was all in vain. We tried many times, but he always flew away. He couldn't be caught, ”explains Karel Makon, head of the city's animal rescue center.

The poor German had an arrow attached to a line and it is not yet known how he managed to survive. Eventually he was captured after a kayak chase.

“We did this on Monday by taking advantage of the fact that the mallard was moulting, so it wouldn't be able to fly until new feathers had grown,” he explains.
The mallard was then operated on by a local veterinarian. After the X-ray, the arrow was safely extracted and the mallard went free on the river. “It is possible that he was a victim of poaching. There was a line on the arrow. It sounds like a targeted hunt, but we lack evidence. Or it could be an act of vandalism ".

The police are now looking for the culprits because such a terrible act cannot go unpunished.
