The giraffe is in danger of dying in a flood, but is saved with a makeshift raft

A giraffe was rescued from Longicharo Island in Kenya. Unfortunately, the incessant rains caused the lake surrounding the islet to overflow, endangering the life of the local fauna.

The transport, by the non-governmental organization Save Giraffes Now, was carried out thanks to an improvised raft, made of metals and plastic.

The conservation team worked with Kenyan authorities to move the nine giraffes that were stranded on the island. Asiwa was the first to be transported and rescued in the shrine; the journey took about an hour.

To make the move less traumatic, rescuers placed acacia pods on the barge so the animal could have a snack and relieve stress.

David O'Connor, president of the NGO Save Giraffes Now, told Reuters that the size of the giraffes made rescue difficult:

It's not that easy to move these giants. They don't know you're trying to help them, they think you're a predator

Fortunately, despite the difficulties, the giraffe is safe!
