In the United States, and in particular in Texas, there is a pink flamingo with a rather well-known name that has chosen to spend its new life here after years of confinement in a zoo. This is Pink Floyd 492.

The animal had arrived in America in 2003 and, along with 40 other specimens, had been transferred to the Kansas City zoo, Missouri, where it would have been forced to live until the end of its days under the eyes of visitors and staff of the facility. which, as happens “regularly”, block the wings of these wonderful birds with pliers to prevent them from flying away. Two years later, however, an employee forgot to stop the wings of Pink Floyd 492 and another flamingo number 347, allowing the two animals to take flight to freedom

17 years have passed since that event and, while there is no more news of the other flamingo, Pink Floyd 492 continues to be seen in Texas, where it is now a frequent visitor.

Initially, many Texans and bird watchers were incredulous at the sight of a bird that resembled a flamingo, as there was no one in the area, but they had to change their mind when they found that Pink Floyd 492 was indeed a flamingo.

Traces of the animal had been lost for a few years, but recently it was spotted again, once again in his now beloved Texas, returning after a long time from the "dark side of the moon", as TX Parks & Wildlife joked. . The experts of the institution are sure it is Pink Floyd because the animal carries a metal tag around a paw with the number 492, with which it was registered at the Kansas City zoo.

Looks like Pink Floyd has returned from the 'dark side the of moon'! Spotted at Rhodes Point in Cox Bay near Port Lavaca by David Foreman on March 10. Pink Floyd is a local Texas flamingo that escaped a Kansas zoo in 2005 and has been seen on the Texas coast for several years.

According to TX Parks & Wildlife, the beautiful bird is now over 20 years old and appears to have adapted well to the climatic conditions of Texas, where it returns with pleasure. There is no risk of being caught or hunted here as the Missouri Zoo has given up on catching the flamingo.

There Pink Floyd was previously only a number, but now he enjoys the freedom that had been stolen from him and that he has regained as every living being should.
