A mouse similar to that of Ratatouille struggling between the grates of a manhole trying to climb up. Her story went viral and the video of the rescue made it to Youtube. It took nine firefighters and volunteers from an animal rescue organization to save the mouse.
Hours of agony for Fat Rat, as it was baptized on the web, but the story has a happy ending.
Michael Sehr, one of the rescuers, said:
"He had a lot of winter flab and was stuck on his side, unable to move forward or backward." And many have wondered why they had saved a mouse. "Even the most hated animals deserve respect."
The distress call was made by a girl who had seen the rat stuck and the firefighters intervened immediately by lifting the manhole and managing to free the overweight pet.
Hundreds of comments applauded the gesture, demonstrating that every animal deserves respect!
