The bull has the upper hand. Known "matador" gored in Valencia

Unfortunately, the Corrida continues to exist, that barbaric spectacle in which a man, the "matador", clearly in the lead, kills a bull in an arena in front of hundreds of spectators. This time, however, it did not go that way and the bull won.

Unfortunately the Race, that barbaric spectacle in which a man, the "matador", clearly in the lead, kills a bull in an arena in front of hundreds of spectators. This time, however, it did not happen and the bull was the winner.

A not very usual scenario was shown to the public gathered in Valencia on the occasion of the annual Fallas festival. During the bullfight, a 532-kilo specimen got the better of well-known Spanish bullfighter Enrique Ponce who was pierced in the lower back.

The bull has the upper hand. Known

The 47-year-old man suffered serious injuries to a buttock and knee ligaments but will recover even if he will be forced to stay still and away from the scene for 5 months (who knows, however, following this accident he does not have second thoughts and interrupts his career!).

As seen from the video (do not watch it if you are particularly sensitive), the veteran bullfighter immediately after the accident limped a few paces before some helpers managed to get him to safety. Soon after, he was transported to the hospital for an emergency operation.

The episode obviously rekindled the controversy about what sense such a show could have in 2019.

We don't like seeing men slaughtered by bulls just as we don't like having a bull killed for pure "fun" during a show like bullfighting. Fortunately, Spain also seems to be increasingly sensitive to the issue and after Catalonia's no (which has banned bullfights for several years already), a new step forward was also made by the junta of Castile and Leon.

The autonomous community of northern Spain in fact approved a decree law in 2016 that prohibits killing bulls during popular shows. Certainly good news but it is still not enough, at least according to animal rights activists, in fact bulls can still continue to be mistreated during the traditional Spanish festivals that see them as protagonists.

We hope that soon, and around the world, these and other "shows" with animals will be just a sad reminder of a time when humanity has indulged in barbarism.
