Taiji Bay: the hunt (and slaughter) of dolphins starts again. Already captured 4 specimens

Unfortunately, the dolphin hunt in Taiji Bay has started again. After a few days, 4 animals have already been captured

Despite strong national and international criticism, the hunt for dolphins has started again in the Japanese city of Taiji. A massacre that hits these poor animals every year. Just in recent days, as reported by Peta, a fleet of fishing boats discovered a pod of dolphins about 12 kilometers from the coast, capturing 4 after having pushed them into the now infamous bay. They were about 3 meters long each and should be sold to aquariums.

Unfortunately, as per tradition (if we want to define this massacre), the hunt for dolphins in Taiji has restarted, a centuries-old practice that has been contested for years. The documentary film “The Cove” also won an Academy Award in the United States after showing the horror.

In recent days, since the early hours of the morning four dolphins have already been captured, with the aim of being trained and sold to aquariums around the world. In fact, it happens that between September and March, hundreds or thousands of animals are captured and often killed in the bay of Taiji. Groups of passing animals are pushed into the bay, which is then blocked to prevent their escape. The most beautiful dolphins are selected for aquariums, where they are then locked up for life. All other animals are killed.

Unfortunately, as the images published on social media by Ric O Barry founder of The Dolphin Project show, last Saturday at dawn 12 boats set off in search of dolphins to confine in the bay of horrors.

And unfortunately, since the first day of this season, 4 have been captured. Then the activities stopped due to bad weather and the approaching typhoon but today they started again:

“The dolphin hunt that takes place annually in Taiji, Japan has attracted international attention as the world learned of the dolphin slaughter and the ruthless captive breeding process. These brutal hunts are documented by our Cove Monitor team every season and shared with the international audience so that attention can be drawn to this obsolete and unnecessarily cruel practice "is the appeal of the Dolphin Project which has started a campaign to put an end to the massacre.
