Story with a happy ending for a Caretta caretta turtle who risked dying trapped in a plastic bag. A carabiniere rescued her
A plastic bag was about to prove fatal to a poor turtle Caretta caretper, who yesterday risked dying of suffocation on a beach in the Agrigento area. But, fortunately, the provincial commander of the Carabinieri of Czech Agrigento arrived to help her. Sauce Tower. As soon as he realized that the animal was in trouble and was wriggling inside the envelope, he immediately dived into the sea - despite the rough sea - to save it.
Shortly after, a couple of tourists also intervened and helped the carabiniere to pull the turtle of about 30 kilos out of the water. The specimen was seriously injured: it had, in fact, a hook stuck in the mouth and a fin torn from a fishing line, where a large plastic bag filled with water and sand was caught.
Within minutes, the turtle was finally released from what had become a yoke for her. A patrol from the Montallegro Carabinieri Station also arrived on site, participating in the rescue operations and the WWF staff was also contacted, who delivered the specimen to the Turtle Recovery Center for the necessary treatments and to submit it to a surgery.
