QuenchSea: the low cost device that transforms sea water into drinking water

It's called QuenchSea, it weighs just 1 kg, is the size of an iron and is able to transform seawater into drinking water.

It is able to make sea water drinkable. It's called Quench Sea and it's a new small device, roughly the size of an iron, which according to its creators can produce up to 3 liters of water in an hour.

Low cost and practical to transport given its size, Quench Sea is looking for funds on Indiegogo but has already largely exceeded the target of 22 thousand euros, reaching (at the time of writing) about 113 thousand euros.

“Quench Sea is a revolutionary, affordable, portable and manually powered device that instantly transforms seawater into fresh drinking water,” explains the team behind it.

It is an innovative technology that combines a hydraulic system, a triple pre-filtration and a small reverse osmosis membrane to desalt seawater by transforming it into fresh water using “manual” kinetic energy. How? Through a sort of manually operated crank, it filters the salt water "purifying" it and removing impurities but also bacteria, microplastics and viruses through the special membrane it is equipped with and the filters.

A fairly practical system that weighs just 1 kg and can be purchased at a cost of around € 53 (with delivery in February 2021). Under ideal conditions, QuenchSea can produce 3 liters of water within one hour.

Here is the video that shows how it works:

QuenchSea was tested by the independent TUV Nord group, which demonstrated the effective ability to transform seawater into freshwater in a short time.

"Our goal is to exceed your expectations at every level and keep you fully up to date on our journey, from fine-tuning product development, manufacturing and delivery, to sharing the impact we will have globally," explains the team, made up mostly of young people.

Today, two-thirds of the world's population lives in regions with poor access to clean water, and over 7 million people die each year from water-related diseases.

“We hope this product launch can somehow solve it. Our mission is to donate 100 million QuenchSea devices by 2027 and impact over 1 billion people ”continue the creators.

A nice idea that we hope will help to help populations who are not lucky enough to have access to drinking water.
