The innovative device that can produce water from air, called Genny, was named Product of the Year for Energy Efficiency at CES in Las Vegas.

Created by the Watergen company, Genny is a system capable of produce water apparently "from nothing". In reality the device, using a patented heat exchange technology, manages to extract water from the atmosphere.

It is therefore able to produce an infinite source of drinking water inside it at home or in the office and consequently helps to significantly reduce the use of plastic.

How exactly does the system work? First of all, the device sucks the air from the atmosphere, an internal filter purifies it by removing dust and various particles. At this point the air is directed through the GENius heat exchange and cooling process and condensed into water.

The water is then filtered again to remove impurities and add minerals, resulting in quality drinking water. Once produced, the water is continuously circulated in a built-in tank to preserve its freshness.

Therefore, the water that Genny produces through its mechanisms is of a higher quality than the water that flows through the filtration systems connected to the municipal water lines.

The device also has the potential to act as an air purifier and dehumidifier, so it is able to circulate clean air throughout the house, with just a small change in the water generation process. Basically, existing technology is used to create a multipurpose appliance.

Actually Genny already existed but now it has been solar powered version launched. Therefore, there is no need to connect the device to any electrical outlet since the 4 large solar panels supplied with the machine are used.

It is therefore the ideal solution for use in remote locations, rural villages, parks and green residential areas where the electricity supply is unreliable or even unavailable.

Thanks to its innovative features and usefulness, Genny was elected product of the year for energy efficiency negli Smart Home Mark of Excellence Awards 2020 al Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, an exhibition that every year recognizes the best innovations for the home in the technology sector.

Last year, the large-scale generator built by Watergen was donated to authorities in Brazil, Vietnam and India. It also aided rescue and recovery efforts during the 2018 California wildfires and provided clean water to Texas and Florida residents who lacked it following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

The large-scale generator is capable of produce up to 5.000 liters of clean water every day, with no need for anything other than a normal supply of electricity. What is certain is that the solar version takes a decisive step forward in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability!
