The minister Elisabeth Borne had also intervened to save the bear, but unfortunately his conditions were now too serious

Misha, a long-abused bear in circuses, is sadly died despite treatment provided in the last two months by a refuge in France

The animal was detained together with two other bears, Bony e Glasha, by the pair of Poliakov trainers, which for decades has exploited animals in exhibitions.

The OneVoice association released gruesome images of how these bears were forced to live last September.

Animals were nourished with fruit marcia from rotten water, all left in dirty and moldy eateries and living with the rats in their cells with rusty grids and full of cobwebs.

The building where the bears were kept seemed incomplete, as it had neither doors nor windows, like that the animals were not protected from wind, rain and cold.

The bears showed up stereotyped behaviors: they went around in circles in their cells and compulsively licked the bars.
Misha then had the paws covered with untreated wounds and full of worms, which made any movement painful and very tiring.

With the publication of the scandalous images, OneVoice had filed a complaint against the bear owners and asked for the animals to be relocated.

The videos exhibited the despicable conditions of detention of the three bears to the general public and to the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Elisabeth Borne, who at the beginning of last September ordered a series of checks on animals in detention.
Inspections carried out by the veterinary service have identified deficiencies in the infrastructure and verified the presence of pathologies on the Misha bear.

As a result, the minister ordered an immediate and final ban on having Misha exhibited during the shows and began looking for a specialized medical institution that could accommodate the visibly sick bear.

These images of the Mischa bear were unbearable. We have conducted a series of checks and are making 3 immediate decisions:
✅ Prohibition of presentation at shows,
    ✅ Administration of care,
    ✅ Possibility of medical placement.

The next day, Misha was welcomed by a shelter near Chartres which houses animals seized and rescued from circuses or laboratories.

The visits and examinations carried out on the animal showed immediately Misha's critical condition, unfortunately suffering from a lung cancer.

The vets then tried to get the animal back on its feet so that it could undergo an operation.
Yesterday a team of veterinarians subjected Misha to the operation, but unfortunately the animal did not survive, due to the severity of the tumor.

Very sad to hear of the passing of the #Mischa bear. I had mobilized so that he ceased all spectacle and that he could be treated. Thank you to all the teams, professionals and NGOs for your unfailing commitment. @TaniereZoo @aves_france @onevoiceanimal https://t.co/1lIyBBiObY
