    340 trees have already been planted in Malaga and its province as part of a broader strategy and campaign to combat climate change which also includes the involvement of the population.





    The Diputación de Málaga, through the 'Málaga Viva' initiative, has become the protagonist of a large green redevelopment of the Andalusian city (but also of the surroundings) in which almost 2.000 citizens have participated by planting new trees which, to date, are over 340 thousands.

    The initiative also earned one of the 2020 environmental awards, awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development of the Junta de Andalucía.

    The jury assessed that the set of actions carried out by the provincial body of Malaga contributes to involving the municipalities in local responsibility and sustainability but also people through environmental awareness actions.

    The 'Málaga Viva' project itself implements social innovation plans linked to sustainable agriculture and the creation of urban gardens in the municipalities of the province, saving and energy efficiency actions that favor better water and waste management but also awareness days. of citizens on environmental issues.

    Finally, it organizes seminars 'nendo dango' (seed bombs). During 2019, participants produced 25.000 seed bombs that were dropped in an area affected by a forest fire in Casares, an Andalusian municipality at the end of November.

    Also in 2019, more than 44 actions were developed, with a budget of almost ten million euros, but the most ambitious goal has not yet been achieved:

    “We continue to work with the same enthusiasm for reach the goal of one million trees planted” said the president President of the Provincial Council of Malaga, Francisco Salado.
